Mushfiqur century crowns landmark 100th Test
Mushfiqur Rahim has written a new chapter in Bangladesh cricket by scoring a century in his 100th Test match.
The veteran wicketkeeper-batter reached the milestone against Ireland at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
He is the first Bangladeshi to play 100 Tests, and he has now turned that landmark into a record-breaking celebration.

Resuming on 99 not out on the second morning, Mushfiqur nudged a single to reach three figures, then raised his bat to a loud Dhaka crowd.
The 38-year-old eventually made 106 from 214 balls, anchoring Bangladesh’s first-innings total.
Elite Test club welcomes Bangladesh star
With this innings, Mushfiqur became only the 11th batter in Test history to score a century in his 100th match.
The exclusive list includes legends such as Colin Cowdrey, Javed Miandad, Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith, Joe Root and David Warner.
Until now, no Indian cricketer had achieved the feat, which underlines how rare the accomplishment is.
For Bangladesh, this record carries special weight.
The country joined Test cricket only in 2000, so having one of its own named beside global greats is a powerful symbol of progress.

Bangladesh innings built around Mushfiqur and Litton
Mushfiqur’s hundred was the backbone of Bangladesh’s 476 in the first innings against Ireland.
He shared important partnerships with Mominul Haque and then Litton Das, who also went on to score a brisk century.
Their stand helped Bangladesh move from a solid platform to a commanding position in the match.
Ireland’s bowlers, led by off-spinner Andy McBrine, kept fighting and eventually bowled Bangladesh out, but only after Mushfiqur’s damage was done.
As a result, the visitors faced heavy scoreboard pressure when they began their reply.
Bangladesh cricket milestone built over two decades
Mushfiqur made his Test debut as a teenager at Lord’s in 2005 and has carried multiple roles for Bangladesh since then.
Over a 20-year career he has kept wicket, batted in the middle order, and often acted as a senior leader in the dressing room.
Coaches and former captains describe him as one of Bangladesh’s most disciplined professionals, known for long hours of training and preparation.
Meanwhile, his consistency has pushed him near the top of Bangladesh’s all-time Test run-scorers, with more than 6,000 runs to his name.
Rare achievement inspires next generation
Bangladesh Cricket Board officials organised special presentations and tributes before the match to honour Mushfiqur’s 100th appearance.

Fans in Mirpur held banners thanking him for two decades of service and for lifting the team on the world stage.
This latest century, coming under the weight of expectation, shows his ability to perform when the spotlight is brightest.
As a result, younger Bangladeshi cricketers now have a powerful example of how patience, discipline and resilience can turn talent into lasting legacy.
